Yes, the device is medical grade and complies with EU standards of health and safety. All data is protected under GDPR regulations, which are more stringent than US standards.
What results can I obtain from the test?
The current version of the software displays RBC count, change in Haemoglobin mass, change in Haematocrit, change in Plasma volume and change in reticulocyte count. The device also measures blood volume, hemoglobin change, RDW-SD, MCV and erythrocyte volume. These parameters can be displayed upon request.
Why does the test only display the change in parameters and not the actual values?
Our device prioritizes precision over accuracy at this stage. Precision refers to consistency of measurements (similar results when testing the same sample repeatedly), while accuracy refers to how close the measurement is to the "true" value. For training purposes, tracking relative changes from an individual's baseline over time is more valuable than comparing to clinical norms. This allows coaches to see adaptations and make informed decisions regardless of absolute values. We can change the output to display actual parameters upon request. It will take 3 weeks to update the system.
Does the device measure HIF-1α?
Our current device doesn't directly measure HIF-1α, though it does measure hematocrit. We're actively researching methods to incorporate HIF-1α testing in our next generation device, expected within 12-18 months.
How often do I need to do the test?
Physiological adaptation to high altitude requires a few days to show a measurable difference in a blood test. Hence an interval of a minimum of 3 days between the first (baseline) and second tests is recommended. Subsequently, if the test results are being used to change the training protocol or nutrition, then the ideal testing schedule will be every 2 days. If the subsequent tests are to track physiological adaptation only, then every 5-7 days is sufficient.
When should I do the test?
The ideal time to do the baseline test is as soon as you arrive at altitude. The ideal time for subsequent tests is in the morning as soon as you wake up and before you start training or consume any food or water. If this is not feasible, then make sure to do every test at the same time of day with as little variation in food/drink consumption and training as possible.
How do I interpret the results?
The web app displays an "Interpretation" section under every graph that updates in real time to provide feedback. Refer to this section to understand what your numbers mean. The dashboard is designed to differentiate between different types of altitude training (on-site upper mountain training vs. intermittent hypoxic training), as interpretation varies based on the training approach.
What does "Total Training Days" refer to in the dashboard?
The "Total Training Days" metric refers to both days with active training sessions AND days between sessions when counting toward your total altitude exposure.
Are the reported adaptation rates evidence-based?
We're continuously reviewing scientific literature to validate claims such as the 0.5-4.5% increase during an 8-week training camp and the ~1.1% Hb-mass increase for every 100 hours of moderate altitude exposure. Our dashboard provides adaptation rates based on current research, and we update these as new evidence emerges.
How can I improve my physiological biomarkers based on the test?
The web app displays an "Interpretation" section under every graph that updates in real time to provide feedback. This section provides advice on actions to take to improve your biomarkers. Use this advice along with other biomarker measurements (e.g. lactate, ketones etc.) along with your coach's and nutritionists advice to refine your training protocol.
Can I generate customized PDF reports from the dashboard?
Yes, our platform allows you to generate comprehensive PDF reports that include:Summary of key findings (changes in blood parameters, improvements, concerns, baseline comparisons)Parameter explanations in non-technical languagePerformance implications (oxygen delivery, endurance, recovery)Training adaptation indicatorsTraining adjustment recommendationsPersonalized next steps (protocols, nutrition, hydration, recovery)
What features are available in the coach dashboard?
The coach dashboard includes:Visualization of client data for comparison against broader datasetsFiltering options by gender, age group, and training frequencyInsights on training day impact on outcomesClient profiles with search/filter functionalityIntegration options with Mywellness Pro (Technogym App)Flexible account structure options
When does HypoXcell launch to the public?
We are currently slated for January 2026
What will the price be after launch?
Final retail pricing will be announced closer to launch. Early pre-order customers receive up to 50% off the device before public release.
When will my pre-order ship?
Pre-orders will begin shipping in Q1 2026, ahead of the public launch, with priority given to early sign-ups.
How will it ship?
Devices and cartridges are shipped via tracked courier service. You’ll receive an email with tracking details once your order leaves our facility. You have the option to purchase a Peli® case for more secure transport.
How will I reorder cartridges?
Cartridges can be reordered directly through our online portal or via authorized distribution partners. Subscription plans will be available to ensure continuous supply.
What is the 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee?
You can try HypoXcell at home for 30 days. If it’s not for you, submit an RMA request in the portal and ship the device back (you cover inbound postage). Once received, we’ll credit your original payment method within 5 business days. Returned units are inspected, sanitised, and certified for resale—helping us reduce e-waste.
What does the standard hardware warranty cover?
HypoXcell comes with a 1-year standard warranty, covering manufacturing defects in the device and charging dock. We provide a collect-and-return service: we organise pick-up, repair or replacement, and ship the device back to you. Typical turnaround is 5–7 days in the UK and 7–10 days internationally. The warranty does not cover cosmetic damage or misuse (drops, water ingress, or unauthorised modifications).
What happens if a cartridge fails?
Each cartridge lot is batch-coded for traceability. If a test fails, upload a photo of the error screen along with the cartridge batch number in the portal. Confirmed manufacturing faults earn a £25 credit toward your next order. Failures caused by user-handling errors (e.g. insufficient blood sample) are not eligible for credit or replacement.
Can I extend my warranty?
Yes. An Optional Extended Cover is available for 3 years (£149). This adds 36 months of hardware protection with the same collect-and-return service. It’s administered by our insurance partner, has no deductible, and allows unlimited swaps within the term. You can purchase this at checkout or within 30 days of device activation.
